Grade 3 Field Trip – Visit to St. Michael’s School for the Blind08 Sep 2015 |
As a part of their current unit on ‘Signs and Symbols’, students of Grade 3 visited St. Michael’s School for the Blind. They joined hands with their students to learn and explore the methodology they follow to read and write. They came to learn about the Braille script and the ways it is used by people with no or low vision to read and write. Our students had a very good one-to-one interaction session with the students of the Blind school. They learned how the different combinations of 6 raised dots are used by them to read and write in English as well as in Hindi. They also came to know about the Maths board used by them to identify numbers and solve mathematical problems. The trip was not only a learning experience for our students academically but they also demonstrated a caring attitude and respect for this new bond of friendship formed with the students of the Blind School.
