The main components of foods are carbohydrates, protein, fats, vitamins, and minerals. These are called nutrients. Carbohydrates is the main source of energy and are called energy giving food.
The students of Grade 4 under the guidance of their Teacher, Ms. Heena Singh, did a group activity on components of a healthy balanced diet where they demonstrated their understanding about various component of food, its sources and benefits of eating them. They even did presentation on methods of preservation of food items. Through this activity they understood that nutrients are required for the survival of living beings like human beings and certain food items when consumed in excess over a long period of time is harmful and will act as poison.
