Maintaining personal hygiene is necessary for many reasons; personal, social, health, psychological or simply as a way of life. It helps to reduce the risks of ill health, it equally affects on how we and others perceive ourselves which can influence our levels of confidence and self-esteem.
The students of Grade VI to VIII (girls) learned about the facts and scientific reasons behind good personal hygiene in the second session of the Hygiene workshop “Being beautiful II- -Hygiene and how it affects your life” with me Tanushree Sengupta on October 12th, 2017.
The session started with a basic face cleaning activity. The hygiene of hair, skin, face, teeth, ears, hands and feet, nails and cuticles, and other important parts of the body were discussed in detail. The various infections, microbes, bacteria and math about their rate of growth in one day were also calculated to give a clearer picture. They also found the answers to Why? How? When? And what? The students were also shown photos of real-life infections to create awareness about the consequences of poor hygiene. Practical tips to stay safe and maintain a hygiene routine was also discussed.
