A Proud Moment for Taurian World School

Under the esteemed guidance of Dr. Subhash Kumar, Taurian World School represented Jharkhand at the prestigious WWF (World Wide Fund) Conference 2024 in Delhi. Our students, Shashwat Chandra (Grade 11) and Saksham Singh (Grade 10), along with Teacher Coordinator Mr. Vijay Sinha, stood as proud delegates among representatives from 28 states.

Key Highlights and Sessions

The event began with an inspiring address by Dr. Sejal Worah, Programme Director of WWF-India. The conference featured a series of insightful sessions, including:

  • Communication for Conservation: Led by WWF-India’s Marketing & Communications team, emphasizing effective communication in conservation.
  • Crafting SMART Action Plans: Focused on developing specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound action plans.
  • Negotiation and Consensus-Building: Highlighted the importance of negotiation skills for conservation goals.
  • Exploring MCOPS Targets: Led by Dr. V.B. Mathur, former Chairperson of the National Biodiversity Authority of India.

Leadership and Participation

Saksham Singh was nominated for the secretary post, reflecting his leadership potential recognized by the organizers. This nomination highlighted Saksham’s dedication to environmental initiatives.

Interactive Sessions and Cultural Programmes

An interactive session with Dr. Erach Bharucha on the significance of food webs was a highlight. Delegates worked on action plans, reviewed by a jury for feedback. The cultural programme showcased each state’s heritage through dance, music, and poetry, inspiring all with messages from esteemed guests.

Commitment to Environmental Conservation

The event concluded with a pledge to conserve and restore the environment, followed by a memorable group photo session. This conference marked a significant milestone for Taurian World School, demonstrating our commitment to environmental leadership.
