Taurian World School hosts Ranchi’s Changemaker Day

Taurian World School hosted Changemaker Day celebration with Ashoka Innovators for the Public.

This prestigious event was co-created by Taurian World Schooland Ashoka to motivate and inspire the students and to help them learn about changemaking, social entrepreneurship, empathy and creative problem solving.

More than 400 students from the school attended the Changemaker Day.

The event featured eminent social entrepreneurs from across the country like Dr. Prasanta Tripathy, Co-Founder of Ekjut, an NGO working towards improving maternal and child health in the underserved districts of India, and Juhi Sharma, founder and CEO of Light Up, Emotions Matter Foundation, one of the first few social organizations that are advocating the need to practice Emotional Intelligence. 

The event also witnessed the presence of 17-year-old Ashoka Young Changemaker Naisargic Lenka, founder of Project Shakti, an initiative helping remote villagers in Odisha deal with the risk of cancer arising from mining activities. 

The speakers enlightened the audience with their changemaker stories and inspired them to take action.

The school also hosted an Idea Pitch Competition for students, where 10 students presented their detailed ideas to solve complex social problems in areas of climate change, employment, corruption, security system, delay in justice etc… 

The winning students are now invited to be part of Ashoka’s National Changemaker Launchpad program.

Talking about the Changemaker Day, the the Principal of Taurian World School Dr. Subhash Kumar said “It is a part of Taurian World School’s vision to create change and to help our students become changemakers. We are glad to host this event with Ashoka. We very much hope that Ashoka Changemaker Day becomes a regular feature in our school and in Ranchi.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Yashveer Singh, Global Director of the Ashoka Young Changemakers programme said, “Ashoka conducts Changemaker Days all across the country and helps teenagers realise their potential to lead their own initiatives and create positive change.

These events are hosted by some the most aspirational high schools and universities in the country like The Doon School and Taurian World School, who are leading the way for other schools in redefining education. It was amazing to see the enthusiastic response from the curious minds at Taurian and we plan to continue creating this changemaker culture here.”
