4th International Yoga Day Celebrated at Taurian World School today

International Yoga Day

“The purpose of practicing Yoga is never a humour for anyone, but a learning of ultimate growth.”

It is a matter of great pride for us that Yoga, which originated in ancient India has gained world recognition.  21st June was unanimously declared by the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on 11 December 2014 to be celebrated as “International Yoga Day” after the Honorable Indian Prime Minister, Shree Narendra Modi in his UN address suggested that it is the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere and shares special significance in many parts of the world.

Today, at Taurian we celebrated this grand day with a mass yoga session in the morning where all the boarding and residential staff took part. During the session we practiced various basic asanas and pranayama.

A Special Assembly

A special morning assembly was also conducted to highlight the benefits of practicing Yoga on a regular basis. There was a Yoga display where students performed basic Asanas and explained their benefits. Yoga when practiced everyday will help cure and prevent diseases, reduce mental tension, and provide great cardio for a strong and fit body.  It also helps correct body posture, improve the Immune system, maintain body weight, better balance and coordination, better sleep and much more…

As a part of the special assembly we had the prize distribution of the Intra School Yoga Championship, which was organised on 18th & 19th June. Students took part in 5 categories and the results are mentioned below:
