Oratory Workshop

Two TED talk videos were screened for the students of class IXth to XIIth aiming to inculcate the skill of speaking amongst the students.  Oratory is a skill which can turn a commoner into a king. All the great leaders that ever walked on earth had the power of Oration to influence their companions.  Taurian has embarked upon this new and attractive proposition to imbue its students with the faculty of exquisite speech with both intellectuality and diction.  It was organised by the English department of the senior secondary  headed by Mrs Chandramukhi Singh along with Mr Muhammad T. Danish.

The Videos

The first talk was given by Dr. Shashi Tharoor on the topic ‘A well educated mind Vs A well formed mind’. After the talk Mr. Danish engaged the students to consolidate their learning. The children responded to the questions posed regarding education.  The most Important point was that a mind well formed to do something creative is better that a mind filled with facts. India after its independence had started from the scratch in the field of education and now it boasts to have world class schools and universities with a surge in literacy rate.

The next talk was of Shahrukh Khan, the famous bollywood actor. His speech was on ‘Humanity, fame and Love’ in which he talked about the paradigm shift that humanity had in the past 50 years. He furthered his discussion on the necessity of love and compassion that is most important aspect of humanity. He expressed his contempt for wars and hatred besides he ridiculed the trend of sharing fake videos.

Conclusion

After the speech ended, Mr.  Danish, Ms Priyanka  Shukla and the senior secondary coordinator Mr Pradeep Mishra had a discussion with the students  about their standpoint on the talk. Students were appreciated for being patient listeners and also for their active participation in the discussion. The principal Dr Subhash Kumar graced the occasion to encourage the students in their endeavour.
